Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday informed the leaders of South Africa, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Brazil on the results of his summit last week with US President Donald Trump, the Kremlin said.

In a phone call with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, the two leaders confirmed their mutual commitment to further developing a comprehensive strategic partnership and maintaining close cooperation on international platforms.

During his conversation with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Putin shared his assessment of the summit in Alaska, and Japarov expressed full support for steps aimed at achieving a long-term settlement to the Ukraine conflict.

Putin also held talks with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon, who welcomed diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis. The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and preparations for Putin’s state visit to Tajikistan in October, which will coincide with the Central Asia-Russia summit and a meeting of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) heads of state.

Putin also briefed Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on the summit outcomes. Lula stressed the importance of the information, noting Brazil’s role as co-chair of the “Group of Friends of Peace in Ukraine.” Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral dialogue and cooperation within the BRICS framework.

Putin and Trump held a session Friday in Anchorage, the largest city in the US state of Alaska, marking the first meeting between sitting American and Russian leaders since the Ukraine war began in February 2022.

At a joint press briefing, Trump called the talks “productive,” while Putin invited him to Russia, saying: “Next time in Moscow.”

As a follow-up to the Aug. 15 summit, Trump is hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders at the Oval Office later in the day as efforts to seal a Ukraine peace deal intensify.

“President Zelenskyy of Ukraine can end the war with Russia almost immediately, if he wants to, or he can continue to fight,” Trump wrote on social media Sunday.

Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff said Russia had agreed to allow the US and Europe to give Ukraine security guarantees as part of a peace deal.
