TOP STORIES

Yemen’s Houthi group confirmed that the prime minister of its government was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the capital city of Sanaa.

The Houthis said Prime Minister Ahmed Ghaleb al-Rahawi and several ministers were killed in the attack Thursday on the capital.

Several other ministers were injured in the strike, it added.

At least 10 more Palestinians, including three children, died from malnutrition caused by a choking Israeli blockade on the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza said.

The ministry said new fatalities from malnourishment brought deaths since October 2023 to 332, including 124 children.

Famine has been confirmed in the Gaza Governorate of the Gaza Strip, and is projected to expand to Deir al-Balah and Khan Younis governorates by the end of September, according to global hunger monitor Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).

The 25th Shanghai Cooperation Organization Heads of State Council meeting will begin in Tianjin, China, with Chinese President Xi Jinping presiding as rotating chair.

Leaders from more than 20 countries will attend the two-day summit amid rising geopolitical tensions, including Israel's war on the Gaza Strip, the Ukraine crisis and international tariff disputes.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan is participating as a guest of honor, alongside Russian President Vladimir Putin, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other leaders.
