AMMAN
Hemmam Said, leader of Muslim Brotherhood in Jordan, has said that King Abdallah II of Jordan should take into account his people's demands on political reforms.
Talking to the AA correspondent on Monday, Said stated that King Abdallah II was not serious about the political reforms.
"We were considering that the King would make realistic reforms, however, we regretfully experience that he is not serious about it," indicated Said.
Noting that the country was facing financial difficulties, Said stated that people had a hard time making ends meet. "Life has become more expensive. The government is trying to cover corruption instead of fighting with it," Said expressed.
Mentioning the new election law, Hemmam Said stated, "The new law is not as good as what Jordanians want. We want the government to consider people's demands, not USA's and Europe's desire whilst making new laws and reform. There is a belief among people that security forces manipulate the upcoming elections, and they are not wrong."
Meanwhile, a notice that is believed to have been prepared by Muslims Brotherhood, claims that there would be a social explosion if reforms fail.
People for a long time have been staging protests against economic policies, political reforms and corruption in Jordan.
Jordan has a population of about six million. The official unemployment rate is approximately 15 percent.
