WASHINGTON/HOUSTON
Houston, the fourth biggest city of the United States, is going to host "Turkey Year" events this year.
The residents of Texas will get to know about Turkey better through exhibitions, concerts and several other events in Houston.
This year Turkey will be honored at the "Consulate Forum" which has been one of the most popular activities of the last 60 years in Houston on the sidelines of the Turkey Year events as a result of initiatives of the Turkish Consulate General in Houston to improve bilateral political, commercial, economic and cultural relations, promote Turkey in the region and consolidate Turkey's reputation.
On the sidelines of the Turkey Year, a trade delegation from Houston Junior Chamber of Commerce will visit Turkey while Turkish cuisine, music, folklore and arts will be introduced to Houston residents. Besides several cultural activities, concerts, fashion shows and Whirling Dervish event will be organized in Houston.
Houston will also host a conference on Turkey in association with a think tank organization, "World Affairs Council-Houston". "Turkey-Houston Business Forum" will be held in November.
"Turkey Year" events will end after the "Consulate Ball" in November.
Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu and James Baker, former U.S. Secretary of State, will be the honorary co-chairmen of both the Consulate Forum and Consulate Ball.
