ANKARA
Jordanian Prime Minister Awn Shawkat al-Khasawnah announced his resignation to the Anadolu Agency (AA) on Thursday.
Speaking to the AA prior to his departure from Ankara for Istanbul, al-Khasawnah said that he thought for a while before resigning from his post.
I have resigned due to a disagreement on my powers stemming from the Jordanian constitution, al-Khasawnah said.
Asked if the Jordanian King Abdallah II accepted his resignation, al-Khasawnah said that he was not sure.
Al-Khasawnah will meet the Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday.
AA was the first media group to learn about al-Khasawnah's resignation.
