Four Taliban insurgents were killed on Wednesday in Afghanistan's central Maidan Wardak province, officials said.
"These four Taliban insurgents were killed in an air-strike," Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Anadolu Agency.
He said the air-strike had been carried out in the Qole Pirak area of the Jaghato district.
"Military operations started last night in the area," said the spokesman.
Khogyani said there had been no casualties thus far among civilians or security forces during operations.
The Taliban, however, rejected the government's claims.
"None of our Mujahideen [Taliban fighters] have been killed, wounded or arrested in that province since last night," spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid told AA by phone from an undisclosed location.
The Taliban ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until 2001 when they were ousted by US-led forces.
In a separate military operation, some 6,000kg of explosives had been confiscated, the provincial government said in a statement.
The explosives had been hidden in a safe house, the statement read, adding that no one had been arrested.
