ANKARA
At least 28 people were wounded in Thailand's capital on Friday when a truck driven by anti-government demonstrators was hit by a bomb during a protest march.
The protest movement's leader Suthep Thaugsuban was in the procession but not wounded in the attack, spokesman Akanat Promphan told reporters.
Bangkok has been hit by weeks of demonstrations by opponents seeking to oust Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.
The protestors claim the Thai leader is a "puppet" of her brother, former premier Thaksin Shinawatra, who was ousted by the military in 2006 amid charges of corruption and alleged disrespect for the monarchy.
The anti-government protests were triggered by a failed amnesty bill that would have allowed Thaksin to return from exile without being imprisoned on a corruption conviction.
The protestors are also demanding the suspension of elections Yingluck has called for February 2, which have been boycotted by the main opposition Democrat Party amid fears that it will return the Shinawatras to power.
Thaugsuban and the Democrats say reform to rid Thailand of corruption in politics must take place first.
Yingluck has offered to meet rivals to discuss an Election Commission proposal to delay the February 2 ballot.
