Türkiye offers condolences to Bosnia over deadly fire at nursing home

ANKARA

Türkiye on Wednesday extended condolences to Bosnia and Herzegovina after nearly a dozen people were killed in a fire incident at a nursing home.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the fire that broke out yesterday (4 November) at a nursing home in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina,” a Turkish Foreign Ministry statement said.

“We wish Allah’s mercy upon those who lost their lives and extend our condolences to the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” it added.

Breaking out on the seventh floor of a retirement facility in Tuzla city, the fire killed 11 residents and injured several people, including police officers, firefighters and medical workers, according to the public broadcaster BHRT.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire after several hours of intervention, while investigation into the causes of the incident is ongoing.
