Turkish prefabricated building company Karmod said Wednesday it delivered a container-based worker dormitory for an industrial plant construction project in Tuzla district of Istanbul.
Known for its modular site structures, Karmod continues to implement container-based mobilization projects for industrial facilities and construction sites throughout the country.
As part of the Tuzla project, the company supplied a container worker dormitory designed to accommodate on-site personnel during the construction phase.
Mustafa Soyalp, container sales manager at Karmod, said the company focuses on building site structures with strong safety and usability standards, including ergonomic design, fire safety and sealing performance.
Türkiye has more than 2 million registered workers in the construction sector alone, he said, adding that large numbers of employees rely on site accommodation across projects ranging from energy and mining developments to mass housing, road construction and industrial facilities.
“As a result, the safety of site mobilization structures has become even more critical,” Soyalp said.
“Container fires frequently appear in the news. There are also issues that rarely make headlines, such as water leakage from roofs or inadequate climate control,” he added.
Soyalp said Karmod prioritizes fire safety and sealing systems in its container structures, adding that electrical installations for both single and combined container units are engineered specifically for each building.
“All electrical systems are completed under strict quality control using high-grade materials and secure connection equipment,” Soyalp said. “After production, all required tests are carried out before the units are delivered to the site.”
He added that the company designs ergonomic container dormitories aimed at providing construction workers with living spaces that approach the comfort of a home.
For the Tuzla project, Karmod constructed a specially equipped dormitory building with 20 rooms covering a total area of 294 square meters (3,164 square feet).
The two-story structure includes a designated rest area and will accommodate up to 40 personnel, he said.
