Senior figure of ISIS (Daesh) terror group captured in Afghanistan-Pakistan region by Turkish intelligence
Mehmet Goren, codenamed Yahya, had traveled from Türkiye to the region, and is brought to country, security sources say

In an operation conducted by Türkiye’s National Intelligence Organization (MIT), Mehmet Goren, one of the so-called senior figures of the terror group ISIS (Daesh), was captured in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and brought to Türkiye, according to information obtained from security sources on Monday.
The individual had taken an active role in ISIS camps and had risen to a so-called administrator position over time.
As a result of MIT’s intelligence work, it was identified that the individual was Mehmet Goren, codenamed Yahya, a so-called administrator, who had been tasked with carrying out suicide attacks on behalf of the terror group.
The suspect had agreed to carry out suicide attacks targeting civilians living in Afghanistan, Pakistan, Türkiye, and Europe, the sources also said.
MIT determined that the terrorist had traveled from Türkiye to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region.
It was also learned that he had survived airstrikes carried out against ISIS elements in Pakistan.
The suspect had been operating together with Ozgur Altun, codenamed Abu Yasir Al Turki, who previously played an active role in transferring ISIS members from Türkiye to the Afghanistan-Pakistan region and was captured in the past, brought to Türkiye, and arrested, the sources added.
