Turkish prefabricated buildings company Karmod completed container-based site mobilization units for a mass housing development in Istanbul’s Tuzla district, the company said on Wednesday.

The installation was carried out for a project launched by Türkiye’s Housing Development Administration (TOKI) in the Aydinli neighborhood of Tuzla. The development includes 954 housing units, 60 retail shops and a 24-classroom primary school.

The mobilization site spans 1,500 square meters across 20 blocks and was completed in 20 days.

The installation includes four 244-square-meter container dormitory buildings, a 112-square-meter cafeteria, separate 63-square-meter offices for occupational health and safety staff and the site physician, two 53-square-meter field offices, seven toilet and shower containers, two boiler room containers, and two 24-square-meter multipurpose container units.

Karmod Container General Manager Ensar Cankaya said the company has become a solution partner for urban renewal and new housing developments in Istanbul by introducing innovative approaches to site mobilization.

“We have supported the fast-paced needs of housing projects with next-generation container structures designed with site safety in mind,” Cankaya said.

He added that Karmod has developed its container systems to withstand demanding construction site conditions, drawing on its expertise in worker mobilization.

“With our next-generation container model, which uses bolted and interlocking systems instead of welded connections, we have made on-site installation much easier,” he said.
