The world's number one golfer Tiger Woods became on Tuesday the first golfer to hit balls from East to West on Istanbul's iconic Bosphorus Bridge that connects Europe and Asia.
Woods arrived in Istanbul's Anatolia continent by helicopter on the sidelines of the "Turkish Airlines Open Golf Tournament" and took part in a spectacular bridge photoshot, which is his first activity within six weeks. He has not played since he had finished tied for 22nd place at the Tour Championship in Atlanta in September.
Woods posed for cameras after his historic shots. Domestic and international press members covered the event and there were many people, who wanted to witness the show. The Bosphorus Bridge was closed during his display. Drivers were directed to the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, second one in Istanbul.
Tiger Woods will travel to the Turkish soutwestern city of Antalya to take on Europe's finest in the $7 million tournament at the Montgomerie Maxx Royal course.
Woods had also played last year's World Golf Final in Turkey but this season marks the first time the country has hosted an official European Tour event.
