Mayor of Uskudar, Mustafa Kara and Sub-governor of Uskudar, Suleyman Erdogan welcomed Gordon, the U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Francis Ricciardone, U.S. Consul General in Istanbul Scott F. Kilner and their spouses to the fast-breaking meal.
Speaking at the fast-breaking meal, Philip Gordon thanked the residents of Uskudar for giving them a chance to join their fast-breaking meal.
"I have stayed in Turkey for numerous times. However, I did not have a chance to join in this wonderful dimension of your culture in the past. I am grateful to you all," Gordon stated.
Mayor Kara, in his part, said that Uskudar was a special place with its history and culture.
This is where the traditions of foundations first began, Kara said.
The fast-breaking meal, which brings together the three monotheistic religions, in Uskudar is the continuation of the foundations' tradition for centuries, Kara underlined.
Gordon, Ricciardone, Kilner and Kara distributed fast-breaking meals to Uskudar residents on Monday.
