All of the Turkish dailies covered the statements of Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan in regards to the talks to resolve the Kurdish issue in the central Anatolian province of Eskisehir where he addressed the residents for the launch of high-speed rail line between Eskisehir and Konya. "We are ending the terror calamity" headlined daily SABAH referring to Erdogan's speech where he said, "We are about to end the terror calamity. We have the joy of accomplishing our duty. There are some who are keen to disrupt the process. We request one thing from you and that is not to leave us alone during our struggle." "They went crazy about the resolution" headlined daily MILLIYET and "They freak out we will resolve" added daily YENI SAFAK as Erdogan said, "The opposition (CHP and MHP) went crazy that we will successfully resolve the Kurdish issue. They ask what we have promised to the jailed head of terrorist PKK in return. We have no promise made. We didn't use the authority given by our people anywhere and we will not do so in the future."
Dailies also covered Turkey's Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statements following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's apology last Friday to Turkey for the Mavi Marmara raid. "If implementation takes place, relations get normalized" headlined daily ZAMAN referring to Erdogan's address to Israel in Eskisehir. "When implementation (of Israel's promise) takes place, there will be normalization (in ties). But if implementation is not carried out, they should not take offense. We are saying it very clearly," Erdogan told on Sunday.
Some dailies also covered the visit of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) delegation for a four-day inspection of Istanbul's capacity to host the 2020 Summer Olympic Games. "We are more ready for the Olympics than ever" headlined daily ZAMAN in regards to support of Turkish President Abdullah Gul for the Olympics. "Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan and I have dedicated ourselves to 2020 (Olympics). We are more ready than ever," Gul told in his welcoming address in Istanbul. "Istanbul passed Olympic test" headlined daily SABAH following the IOC delegation members' visit of several key installations, including the 76,000-seat Ataturk Olympic Stadium, as well as the 52,000-seat Seyrantepe Stadium, which is home to Turkish football team Galatasaray.
