At the meeting held in Istanbul's Dolmabahce Palace, Turkish PM Erdogan met the committee for the last time and discussed their 7 final reports from Turkey's seven regions.
The meeting started at 15.00 and lasted about three hours.
Deputy Chairman of the ruling Justice and Development (AK) Party Huseyin Celik said on Wednesday finding a solution to the Kurdish issue in Turkey is also a matter of democracy "for all who feel themselves as 'the other.'"
AK Party Deputy Chairman Celik spoke to the press after the final meeting of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan with the "wise people" group, a consultative body to oversee the ongoing efforts in Turkey to find a settlement to PKK terrorism which have killed more than 40,000 people in the past three decades in the country.
Deputy Prime Ministers Besir Atalay and Bekir Bozdag, Interior Minister Muammer Guler, Minister of Culture and Tourism Omer Celik, Deputy Chairmen of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), Undersecretary of Prime Ministry Efkan Ala and Undersecretary of Public Order and Security Mehmet Ulvi Saran participated in the meeting as well.
Murat Belge, who had announced his resignation from the group, Prof. Dr. Baskin Oran, Arzuhan Dogan Yalcindag, Mustafa Kumlu, Kursad Bumin and Semsi Bayraktar were not present at the meeting.
AK Party Deputy Chairman Celik stated that the meeting was very beneficial and fruitful in which the seven regional committees of the group presented their final reports on the solution process to Turkish PM Erdogan.
The reports, he told, included the public opinion's "diagnoses" regarding the problems related with the Kurdish issue as well as some "methods for treatment" offered by each of the regional sub-groups.
Celik noted that the reports, covering many issues ranging from the process of drafting a new constitution to the language problem, from change in political system to the problem of Cemevi (Alawite holy places of gathering), also contain the demands, wishes, dreams and hopes along with concerns and fears of the people.
Turkish government will prepare a final refined report, Celik announced, reviewing the reports of these regional sub-groups.
Defining the wise people group as "a picture of Turkey," Celik underlined that their effort contributed a great deal of support to the Turkish government, providing a good example that such wise people committees can be organized in different cases.
Celik said the wise people also conveyed their complaints about the media who focused on the protests during the meetings. "Several wise men complained, unfortunately, that the media usually showed more of the protests of small groups during their meetings by ignoring the actual effort itself," he said.
"During the efforts of wise people, a free atmosphere of working originated which facilitated efforts towards the solution of the Kurdish issue. The victim groups, families of martyrs and veterans support the solution process on a large scale. Turkish population of 76 million agree that the bloodshed as well as the tears of the families must end," Celik argued.
Another finding defined in the reports was was a call for the opposition parties to get involved in the solution process.
Turkish actress Hulya Kocyigit, member of the Wise People Committee of the Marmara Region, also commented on their meeting with Turkish Premier Erdogan, saying "Our greatest need is social peace and to achieve it, we have to try to understand each other and think towards the same wish."
The "wise men" committees of 63 people including writers, columnists, academicians, actors, actresses and many others with different world and political views and from different religions and ethnic backgrounds, took to the roads two and a half months ago with the aim of taking the public opinion on the solution of the decades-long Kurdish issue. During their efforts in all seven regions of Turkey, the wise people met and discussed with over 60 thousand people and listened their thoughts and suggestions.
