LONDON (AA) - Turkish Director Alphan Eseli's first film, the "Eve Donus: Sarikamis 1915" (The Long Way Home) has been nominated for the First Feature Competition at the 57th BFI London Film Festival.
The Sutherland Trophy is annually given by the British Film Institute (BFI) recognises the most original and imaginative directorial debut.
According to a written statement, the film which presents stories from the era of the Turkish War of Independence from a different point of view shares the story of several war exiles after the battle of Sarikamis in 1915 with haunting imagery and a bone-chilling story of survival.
The film will be screed on October 19 and 20 at the Vue and Renoir cinemas respectively within the scope of 57th BFI London Film Festival. The other films which were nominated for the "Sutherland Throphy" awards are B For Boy, Hide Your Smiling Faces, Ilo Ilo, Kill Your Darlings, Luton, Salvo, Sarah Prefers to Run, Sixteen, Trap Street, Wounded and Youth.
The first feature film of director and photoghrapher Alphan Eseli competed at the 37th Montreal Film Festival and was decorated with two awards earlier this year.
