Turkey to appoint new envoys to Russia, France, Israel

Turkey is set to appoint more new ambassadors, including to Greece, Iraq, Ireland, Israel, Russia and France, Turkish diplomatic sources told Anadolu Agency Monday.

Turkey’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Yasar Halit Cevik will be Turkey’s new ambassador to Athens, while the head of Turkish Foreign Ministry’s Human Resources Department Fatih Yilmaz will be appointed as ambassador to Baghdad, the sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to talk to the media, said.

Undersecretary of the Turkish Prime Ministry Kemal Madenoglu will serve as permanent representative of Turkey to the World Trade Organization; Assistant Secretary of Political Affairs Levent Murat will be Turkey’s ambassador to Dublin, the sources said.

Foreign Policy Advisory Board Member Husnu Gurcan will be appointed as ambassador to Jerusalem while Brazil ambassador Huseyin Lazip Dirioz will now serve in Moscow.

Turkish National Intelligence Service Deputy Undersecretary Ismail Hakki Musa will be Turkey’s ambassador to Paris, while European Affairs Deputy Undersecretary Murat Salim Esen would be appointed to Rome embassy.

On Saturday, it was revealed that Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Feridun Sinirlioglu will be appointed as permanent representative to the United Nations in New York.

Deputy Foreign Minister Naci Koru will be permanent representative to the UN in Geneva. Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman Tanju Bilgic will be Turkey’s ambassador to Serbia.

Turkey's Iraq ambassador Faruk Kaymakci will be assigned as permanent representative to the EU; Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Ali Kemal Aydin will be ambassador to Germany; and Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Murat Salim Esenli will be Turkey’s ambassador to Italy.

Foreign Ministry Director-General for the Middle East and North Africa Can Dizdar will be assigned as UAE ambassador and Foreign Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Levent Murat Burhan will be ambassador to Ireland.

According to the same sources, EU Ministry Undersecretary Rauf Engin Soysal will be appointed as Turkey’s representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe.

Turkish Foreign Ministry Bilateral Political Relations Director-General Hulusi Kilic will be Moldova ambassador while Tunc Ugdul, Foreign Ministry research and security affairs chief, will be appointed as Poland ambassador. Asligul Ugdul will be Turkey’s ambassador to Slovakia.

The appointments will become official only once they appear in Turkey's official gazette, which is expected to happen soon.
