ANKARA
A panel of leading economists polled in The Anadolu Agency's "Foreign Trade Expectation Survey" predicted that Turkey's November foreign trade deficit would be about $7.5 billion.
According to the survey, in which 15 economists participated, the highest forecast was $8.4 billion while the lowest estimate stood at $6.5 billion.
In November 2013, the foreign trade deficit was at $7.15 billion. Clearly, the economists do not see a sharp evolution in trends since the previous year.
The economists also predicted that Turkey's exports in November would amount to $13.4 billion and its imports would reach $20.8 billion.
Turkey’s exports in October increased by 7.3 percent to $12.9 billion year-on-year, while imports declined by 1.5 percent to $19.2 billion.
Based on their estimates, Turkey's year-end foreign trade deficit is expected to reach $82.9 billion-- $16.9 billion lower than last year’s $99.8 billion.
Official foreign trade statistics for November are scheduled for release on December 31.
