Turkish EU minister said Turkey was the only country where secular democracy and Islam existed together.
Delivering a speech on the future of Europe at the annual conference of Yalta European Strategy, EU Minister and Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis said that Turkey's EU membership would strengthen the global role of EU and increase its credit in the Islamic world.
The region where Turkey was located has been passing through a difficult process, he said.
Bagis said that they felt sad over the killing of the U.S. Ambassador to Libya and three of his staff members in Benghazi.
The EU minister said that Turkey was one of the fastest growing countries in Europe, stating that the country continued to grow despite economic crisis in Europe.
"The country's growth continued also in the first quarter of 2012. According to the figures of OECD, Turkey will be the second largest economy in Europe in 2050," he said.
Bagis said that the Turkish government established a developed, more democratic and powerful country based on the rule of law.
