ANKARA
No signs of any biological warfare material have been found in the suspicious letters delivered last Friday to five consulates in Istanbul, the Turkish health ministry said Monday.
The letters were said to have contained a mysterious yellow-colored substance.
"Officials have investigated anthrax, plague, tularemi, ricin or botulinum toxins in the suspicious powder and no sign of a biological warfare material was encountered," the ministry said in a statement.
It added that advanced biological tests and chemical analysis results would be released later Monday.
The suspicious letters were delivered to the Canadian, German, Belgian, French and American consulates Friday that sparked fears of a chemical attack.
The Hungarian mission became the sixth foreign office Monday to receive the letter containing suspicious substance.
It is believed the Hungarian mission had also received the letter Friday as part of the wave of suspicious packages delivered to the other five consulates in Istanbul, but it was opened Monday morning.
The Hungarian consulate was closed Thursday and Friday because of national holidays in Hungary.
