Conductor Daniel Barenboim and the Staatskapelle Berlin, one of the oldest orchestras in the world, will perform in Istanbul's Zorlu Centre Performing Arts Center on May 15.
Daniel Barenboim has served as the orchestra’s general music director since 1992, and in 2000 the orchestra voted him as conductor for life. At numerous guest appearances that has brought the orchestra not only to the great European music centers, but also to Israel, Japan, and China, as well as North and South America.
The ensemble that won a Grammy Award in 2003 with Wagner’s composition, will perform Wagner’s “Tristan und Isolde” and “The Master-Singers of Nuremberg”. The orchestra also will play Elgar’s Symphony No: 2.
Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) is hosting the orchestra.
