Turkey expects Israel to take necessary steps for relations to normalize, the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said Thursday.
"It's Israel's turn to take a step; normalization is a situation that will come about only if Israel takes necessary steps," said Tanju Bilgic in remarks made at a weekly press briefing.
Bilgic also talked about Syria, where Daesh militants recently entered the town of Kobani near the border with Turkey.
Regarding a question on US State Department Spokesperson John Kirby's statement about not having evidence of cooperation between the Bashar al-Assad regime and Daesh, Bilgic said: "We would say the opposite. We have a body of information and documents on this."
“The Assad regime supports Daesh's progression,” he said, adding that he was surprised by the “change of discourse” on the part of the U.S.
Bilgic said the ministry has been informed on a recent suicide attack carried out by Daesh in Kobani.
"We have received information about a suicide attack which was carried out near our border by three vehicles coming from Syria,” he said.
“63 injured people have arrived in Turkey for now. Two of them -- including one child -- died," Bilgic said.
The spokesman said that the claims on Daesh members crossing into Kobani through Turkey is a “complete lie”. Kurdish forces fighting Daesh in the Syrian town confirmed Turkey’s stance on Thursday.
Bilgic added that almost 4,000 people out of 24,000 Syrian refugees fleeing to Turkey from clashes in the city of Tell Abyad have returned to their country.
