BISHKEK
Kyrgyzstan Minister of Culture, Information and Tourism Sultan Rayev received Director General of Press and Information Murat Karakaya within the scope of "3rd Media Forum of Turkish-speaking countries".
During the meeting between Rayev and Karakaya, the necessity of developing the cooperation inside the Turkic world besides bilateral relations between Kyrgyzstan and Turkey was stressed.
Rayev said the "freedom of speech" is at better condition in Kyrgyzstan compared to the neighboring countries in the region. The minister also stated that they were trying to decrease the number of press institutions belonging to state.
-"We wish to cooperate with AA"
Regarding that the relations in media field in Turkic world, Rayev said, "As Kyrgyzstan, we could not build bridges between Turkic world and Turkey in media sector. The sources of information in Kyrgyzstan are still Russian sources. In this framework, we would like to benefit from Turkey's news agencies."
Rayev said "We wish to cooperate with Anadolu Agency (AA) on news exchange" by stating that Kyrgyzstan aimed to start digital broadcasting in 2015 thus they needed support in this aspect.
-The relations in media field are weak
Karakaya said they visited Kyrgyzstan with a crowded delegation because of their special interest in Kyrgyzstan.
Karakaya stated the political, economic and cultural relations between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan are tight though the media cooperation is weak.
Turkish delegation was comprised of Directorate General of Press and Information, Anadolu Agency, Turkish Radio and Television Corporation (TRT), and authorities from TURKSAT.
