ANKARA
Turkish Constitutional Court President Hasim Kilic said that the "human honor" should be the only red line which should not be changed in the new Constitution.
Speaking at a meeting on Thursday, Kilic reminded that the need of a new Constitution was agreed by all parties during the last general elections in Turkey, and added that the Parliamentary constitutional reconciliation Committee worked with great patience and maturity on it, and that this was a serious gain for democracy.
However, four political parties did not push for negotiation after they presented their proposals, and this slowed down the process, he said.
Kilic said that it was normal that the expectation of each sides in the society from the new Constitution was different, because the society was faced with its problems for the first time in a democratic atmosphere.
Kilic underlined that they should try different ways to negotiate, and give a chance to different views and proposals.
He added that the value of honor of every person was equal, noting that religion, sect, race and color were not effective on this value.
Premier Erdogan praises Turkish Constitutional Court
On the other hand, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan said he was proud of Constitutional Court of Turkey which was preserving freedoms, democracy and national sovereignty strongly.
Erdogan underlined that reforms, which had been fulfilled in democratization and legal areas, had important contributions in Turkey's developing and growing as well as its confidence for future.
Noting that the reforms also positively affected Turkey's foreign policy, Erdogan said that Turkey, with its proactive foreign policy in a problematic region, was making more contribution in peace, tranquility and stability.
Turkey's success in democratization and economy had hopeful results for itself and its region, Erdogan said.
