African media representatives received information from Foreign News Desk Director Omer Faruk Caliskan.
AA Director General Ozturk informed them about AA's "centennial vision" and said, "earlier Anadolu Agency was serving as a local media organ. But the Turkish government and we thought that the agency should be an international one. Thus we revealed the centennial vision of the agency."
"We are planning to broadcast news reports in 11 languages within next four years. Currently, AA airs news stories in English, Bosniak and Turkish. The agency will start to broadcast in Arabic, Russian and Kurdish in June," he said.
Turkish state and people attached a great importance to Africa, he said. Ozturk said, "Africa is of great importance for us. We attach a great importance to Somalia. Only AA broadcast news reports about cultural values of Somalia. Hopefully, we will have offices in Africa next year and we will have closer ties with you."
