The Golden State Warriors beat the Houston Rockets 104-90 in the fifth game of the Western Conference finals on Wednesday night and advanced to the NBA finals for the first time in 40 years.
Regular season MVP Warriors’ star Stephen Curry scored 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds, produced six assists and made five steals against Rockets.
His teammate Harrison Barnes tallied 24 points and got seven rebounds during the match. In addition, Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson scored 20 points. Festus Ezeli scored 12 points and had nine rebounds. Meanwhile, Draymond Green and Andrew Bogut reached double digits in rebounds.
Rockets’ star shooting guard James Harden managed to score 14 points, six rebounds and five assists.
Dwight Howard tallied 18 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Jason Terry and Corey Brewer scored 16 points each and Trevor Ariza scored 15 points.
The Golden State Warriors last reached the NBA finals in 1975 and won the title by sweeping the Washington Bullets 4-0.
The first game in the 2015 NBA finals series will be played between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers at the Warriors' home court, Oracle Arena, on June 4.
NBA playoffs are played as a best of seven series so a team that wins four games eliminates its opponent.
