ANKARA
The Golden State Warriors secured a narrow victory over the Houston Rockets in the first match of the NBA Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night.
A 110-106 win for the Warriors at their home court, Oakland’s Oracle Arena, saw their star player Stephen Curry score 34 points. Team-mate Klay Thompson tallied 15 points.
Warriors guard Shaun Livingston was key to the victory, grabbing 18 points and seven rebounds. In addition, forwards Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes reached double digit points, with Green taking 12 rebounds.
Rockets shooting guard James Harden was his team's top scorer with 28 points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds and produced nine assists. Forward Trevor Ariza scored 20 while Josh Smith secured 17 points.
The next fixture in the best-of-seven game series is at Oracle Arena on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the eastern finals' first match between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Atlanta Hawks takes place at the Philips Arena, Atlanta, on Wednesday evening.
