Turkish swimmer wins bronze in European tournament

ANKARA 

Turkey's Umitcan Gures on Saturday won the bronze medal at the European Short Course Swimming Championships 2019 in the U.K.  

The Turkish Olympic Committee said on Twitter that Gures finished the men's 50-meter butterfly stroke in 22.38 seconds to bag the bronze in Glasgow, Scotland.

Emre Sakci, also from Turkey, came in fourth in the 100-meter breaststroke final.

Sakci on Wednesday also won a silver medal by finishing the 50-meter breaststroke in 25.82 seconds.

The championship features more than 500 athletes from all around Europe at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre.

The biennial event started on Wednesday and will run through Dec. 8.
