A stadium play ban for top-tier Turkish club Trabzonspor over violent clashes on the pitch has been reduced from six matches to four, the Turkish football authority said on Friday

After appealing the ban, Trabzonspor have been ordered to play their next four games behind closed doors, said the Turkish Football Federation in a statement.

The Black Sea club's fine was also reduced to 448,000 Turkish liras (about $14,000).

On Wednesday, the Turkish Professional Football Disciplinary Board had levied a fine of 3 million Turkish liras ($93,900) on the club.

But two Fenerbahce footballers – Dutch left-back Jayden Oosterwolde and Turkish goalkeeper Irfan Can Egribayat – have been suspended for one match each due to fighting with rival team fans, with their suspensions approved on Friday.

Egribayat was among the substitutes during the match that led to the sanctions.

Last month, Fenerbahce defeated Trabzonspor 3-2, but the players' celebrations were marred by ugly scenes as many Trabzonspor fans stormed the pitch at Trabzon’s Papara Park.

As the away team players were celebrating their victory on the center circle of the stadium, dozens of Trabzonspor fans invaded the pitch to attack them. A large number of security personnel rushed to the scene to stop the chaos.

Videos circulating online showed some Fenerbahce players such as Belgian forward Michy Batshuayi, Nigerian right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Oosterwolde confronted the pitch invaders. Fenerbahce's Croatian goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was punched while he was running to the tunnel.

During the match, Trabzonspor fans threw flares and various objects onto the pitch.
