NBA: Jazz hit Blazers to get 23rd straight home victory

The Utah Jazz on Thursday had their 23rd straight home victory after they beat the Portland Trail Blazers 122-103 in Salt Lake City.

The game was close between the sides until the third quarter, when the Jazz scored 40 points against the Trail Blazers to take control of the match. The visitors racked up 19 points in the third period.

Shooting guard Donovan Mitchell scored 37 points to lead the Jazz at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

Utah's French star Rudy Gobert was also dominant against the Trail Blazers, scoring 18 points and having 21 rebounds. The Jazz's Australian shooting guard Joe Ingles added 13 points.

Trail Blazers' superstar Damian Lillard scored 23 points for his team. Shooting guard CJ McCollum produced 19 points, while Norman Powell added 13 points.

The Jazz are now leading the Western Conference. They won 39 games but lost 13 others in the 2020-21 NBA regular season.

Sitting in the sixth place in the West standings, the Trail Blazers have a 30-21 win/loss record.


Heat guard Oladipo injured

Miami Heat guard Victor Oladipo had to leave Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after a right knee injury.

Oladipo, 28, was seen limping after scoring a slam dunk in the fourth quarter.

Miami coach Erik Spoelstra said that Oladipo will undergo medical checks for diagnosis. "We will re-evaluate him tomorrow," Spoelstra added.

Oladipo scored 18 points as the Heat beat the Lakers 110-104 in Miami.
