Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) superstar Neymar Jr. has been ruled out for around four weeks after he suffered a thigh muscle injury, the French football club said on Thursday.
In a statement on website, PSG said that Neymar suffered from a left adductor longus muscle injury on Wednesday evening.
"After analysis of clinical exams and scans, it is expected that he'll be out for around 4 weeks depending on the evolution of the injury," the club added.
Neymar was injured in a French Cup match against Caen that PSG won 1-0.
He will miss the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg against his former club Barcelona on Feb. 16 in Spain.
Neymar, 29, who mainly plays on the left flank, has been a Paris Saint-Germain player since 2017.
The prolific forward scored 83 goals and 47 assists in 103 appearances for PSG.
He previously played for Barcelona, where he won the 2015 UEFA Champions League title. Neymar has also been regularly playing for his native Brazil since 2010.
