ANKARA
Besiktas lost against Torku Konyaspor 1-0 in the Spor Toto Super League match on Monday in Ankara and their title hopes came to an end since they are now seven points behind the leaders Galatasaray with two matches to spare.
Visitors Torku Konyaspor snatched the win at Osmanli Stadium thanks to the goal scored by Romanian winger Gabriel Torje from a corner kick in the 80th minute. He curved the ball through the net and Besiktas goalkeeper Gunay Guvenc failed to save it.
As of matchday 32, Besiktas are in third place with 66 points in the league led by Galatasaray who have 73 points. Fenerbahce are in second place with 70 points.
Besiktas will be hosted by the leaders Galatasaray at Turk Telekom Arena on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Balikesirspor and Kardemir Karabukspor have been relegated to the lower division after Caykur Rizespor won against Akhisar Belediyespor 3-1.
