ANKARA
Turkish top football division Spor Toto Super League title contenders Besiktas received a shocking 1-1 draw against Gaziantepspor at the Osmanli Stadium in Ankara Sunday.
Besiktas were off to a flyer after Jose Sosa's early goal. The 29-year-old Argentine attacking midfielder put the ball in the back of the net from a free kick in seventh minute, 1-0.
In the 42nd minute, visitors Gaziantepspor midfielder John Chibuike poked the ball into the net, 1-1.
In the 82nd minute, Chibuike was sent off after penalizing Besiktas winger Gokhan Tore. Gaziantepspor had to play with 10 men.
Dictating the tempo of the match, Besiktas increased the pressure to score the winning goal, however, the team missed many chances.
In injury time, Gaziantepspor had a chance for a late winner on a counter attack, however, Erdem Sen hit the bar.
The match in Ankara ended 1-1 and Besiktas are now in the third place with 65 points. Black Eagles risked their title chance with four games to spare as archrivals Galatasaray and Fenerbahce each managed to win their matches.
Galatasaray are leading the league with 67 points, meanwhile, Fenerbahce is closely following with 66 points.
