Two-time Grand Tour champion in cycling, Egan Bernal, has returned to riding on the road after a bus crash earlier this year which left him with multiple severe injuries.

"The happiest day of my life. After 2 months and 20 broken bones, here I am, and I want more! See you guys on the road," the Colombian athlete said on Instagram on Sunday, sharing some of his photos while back in the saddle.

His team also confirmed Bernal's return.

"The best Monday Motivation we could ever hope for. Egan Bernal is back on the bike!" INEOS Grenadiers said on Twitter.

The 25-year-old underwent several surgeries for bone fractures including his spine after colliding with a stationary bus during a training session in his native Colombia on Jan. 24.

The crash fractured Bernal's vertebrae, right femur, right patella, and several ribs, and punctured his lung as well.

After surgeries, he was taken to the intensive care unit.

Bernal won the 2019 Tour de France and 2021 Giro d'Italia.
