The mother of one of Elon Musk’s children has filed a lawsuit against his company, alleging that Grok AI generated explicit images of her, including one portraying her as underage, according to media reports.

Ashley St. Clair filed the lawsuit in New York’s Supreme Court against xAI, claiming that Grok, the AI tool used on the US social media platform X, continued producing explicit images despite promises it would stop, The Guardian reported Thursday.

She is requesting compensatory and punitive damages, claiming the AI tool created dozens of sexually explicit and humiliating deepfake images portraying her.

After two weeks of backlash over sexualized images of women and children, the company said it would "geoblock" Grok from generating real-person bikini or underwear images in countries where it is illegal.

St. Clair, 27, is a right-wing influencer and author who shares a son with Musk, born in 2024, though the two are estranged.

The lawsuit stated that X “financially benefited from the creation and dissemination of nonconsensual, realistic, sexualised deepfake content depicting Plaintiff as a minor and adult” and thus xAI is "directly liable for the harassment and explicit images" by Grok.

“This harm flowed directly from deliberate design choices that enabled Grok to be used as a tool of harassment and humiliation. Companies should not be able to escape responsibility when the products they build predictably cause this kind of harm. We intend to hold Grok accountable and to help establish clear legal boundaries for the entire public’s benefit to prevent AI from being weaponised for abuse,” St. Clair’s legal representative, Carrie Goldberg, told The Guardian.

Musk has said on X that users are responsible for any images they generate through the app, recently adding, “Anyone using Grok to make illegal content will suffer the same consequences as if they upload illegal content.”

X said it had “zero tolerance for any forms of child sexual exploitation, nonconsensual nudity, and unwanted sexual content."
