Russian energy company Gazprom on Tuesday said that it has been notified by the Ukrainian operator about the termination of gas transit through the Sokhranivka entry point starting Wednesday.

Some 30% of the gas is delivered to Europe via Sokhranivka, which is located in the Donbas region in eastern Ukraine. The point has a natural gas delivery capacity of around 30 million cubic meters per day.

Ukraine’s Gas Transmission System Operator has offered to move the affected flow to the Sudzha point, Gazprom spokesman Sergey Kupriyanov said.

Ukraine has warned that if Russia continues to deliver gas to Sokhranivka, the amount of natural gas will be reduced from the volume of Russian gas going to Europe, Kupriyanov said.

He said that Gazprom cannot detect situations that would cause force majeure.

Kupriyanov said that it is technologically impossible to transport the volume of natural gas transmitted through Sokhranivka to Suca point.
