Russia says Ukrainian drone attack sparks fire at railway station in Volgograd
High-voltage wire also damaged from falling debris of downed drones, according to governor

ISTANBUL
Russia said on Monday that an overnight Ukrainian drone attack sparked a fire at a railway station in the country’s southern Volgograd region.
A statement by the regional administration, citing Governor Andrey Bocharov, said firefighters were working to extinguish the fire at the Archeda train station in the town of Frolovo, about 130 kilometers (80 miles) northeast of the city of Volgograd.
Bocharov said the fire erupted at a technical building in the station, and that windows were broken in two adjacent residential buildings in the attack, which he said targeted regional "transport and energy facilities."
“(In order) to eliminate an unexploded drone located on the railway tracks, train traffic in the area of the Archeda station in the Frolovsky District has been temporarily restricted,” Bocharov said, adding that railway tracks were not damaged.
He said a high-voltage wire in the region's Ilovlinsky district was also damaged from falling debris, and engineers worked to restore power supply to the village of Ilovlya and nearby settlements.
The Privolzhskaya Railway, a branch of state-owned Russian Railways, said several trains in the region were delayed due to the attack.
Meanwhile, Russian state news agency TASS, citing the press service of Federal Air Transport Agency, said airports in the cities of Volgograd and Tambov placed restrictions on arriving and departing planes, which were later lifted.
Separately, the Defense Ministry claimed air defenses intercepted and shot down 61 Ukrainian drones overnight, six of which were downed over the Volgograd region.
Ukrainian authorities did not immediately comment on the claims, though Kyiv has frequently targeted infrastructure inside Russia that it says supports Moscow's military actions in Ukraine.
Frolovo is about 250 kilometers (155 miles) from Russia's border with Ukraine's easternmost Luhansk region.
