Russian forces capture village of Bilohiria, claims Defense Ministry
ISTANBUL
Russia claimed on Sunday that it took control of another settlement in Ukraine’s southeastern Zaporizhzhia region.
The Russian Defense Ministry claimed in a statement that its forces captured the village of Bilohiria, situated about 16 kilometers (10 miles) east of the city of Orikhiv, a key front in the Zaporizhzhia region.
The village is also about 25 kilometers (15.5 miles) southwest of the front-line town of Huliaipole, which Russia claimed it captured late last month. Ukraine has denied the claim.
Ukrainian authorities have not yet commented on Russia’s recent claim, and independent verification is difficult due to the nearly four-year war.
