MOSCOW

Four people were killed and one injured in a Ukrainian night drone attack in Russia’s southwestern Samara region, its Governor Vyacheslav Fedorechev said on Saturday.

"I am deeply saddened to announce that four lives have been lost due to a night attack by enemy drones. This is an irreplaceable loss for each and every one of us. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those who perished," he wrote on Russian social media network VKontakte.

The government of the Samara region remains in close contact with the affected families and will provide them with all necessary assistance, including financial support, he said.

"One person was injured during the attack. Our best medical professionals are doing everything possible to restore their health," he said.
