An extension of the ten day ceasefire between pro-Russian separatists and the Ukrainian authorities will not be extended said Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Tuesday.
Wealthy candy magnate, Poroshenko accused the separatists of violating the ceasefire more than a hundred times and not implementing a peace plan.
Poroshenko's decision came after talks with the Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande on Monday in search of a solution for Ukrainian crisis.
"We will clean our lands. We will answer to the terrorists, rebels, and those who disturb the civilians peace with the decision not to extend the ceasefire," read the announcement on Poroshenko's website early Tuesday.
The aim behind the ceasefire, announced on June 18 was to give the separatists a chance to disarm and for a wider peace process to begin granting more authority for regional governments.
On Friday, EU leaders gave Russia three days to take steps on Ukraine or face targeted sanctions.
