Pakistani Taliban on Saturday ambushed a police convoy in Pakistan's Kohat province, some 180 km west of capital Islamabad.
Seven policemen died in the attack and 15 Taliban insurgents were also killed in the ensuing firefight.
Police officer Safiullah Khan said that rebels attacked the police convoy with heavy weapons. Khan said six police officers were wounded in the incident.
Elsewhere in Pakistan, four insurgents were killed in an air strike in the country's Tirah valley, a Taliban stronghold, Pakistani army said.
