Egypt has snubbed a request to receive a delegation recently formed by the African Union to discuss the ouster of elected President Mohammed Morsi.
The African body has proposed to send a delegation headed by former Malian President Alpha Oumar Konaré to hold talks with all sides concerned in Egypt, but the new administration refused to receive it, a diplomatic source with the African body told the Anadolu Agency.
There was no immediate response from Egyptian authorities to the report.
The new administration in Egypt has criticized a decision by the African Union to suspend the country's membership following the army's removal of Morsi, the country's first democratically elected president.
It plans to send a government envoy to Addis Ababa next week to attend a meeting of the African Union's Peace and Security Council to explain the situation, the source said.
Morsi, who was elected last year, was deposed by the military on July 3, following mass demonstrations against his regime.
Shortly after, the AU announced suspending Egypt's membership, an automatic measure by the body following any military interruption of constitutional rule by a member state.
