KABUL, Afghanistan
Afghan officials have claimed that 29 Taliban fighters were killed and 11 other people wounded in nationwide raids by the country's security forces.
Eleven militants were also captured during the 24-hour operation, the Afghan interior ministry claimed in a statement on Tuesday.
The raids were carried out in Kunar, Nangarhar, Samangan, Zabul, Maidan Wardak, Ghazni, Paktika and Helmand provinces.
Guns and explosives were seized, the ministry added.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid denied the government claims, saying many Afghan and foreign soldiers were killed in Taliban attacks.
