BAGHDAD
At least 23 people were killed and 77 others injured in a series of car bombings that rocked Iraqi capital Baghdad on Thursday.
Five Iraqis were killed and 17 injured by two car-bombs that went off in central Baghdad, a police source told Anadolu Agency.
Another car-bomb struck eastern Baghdad's Al-Obeidi district, killing two and injuring seven.
Another four people were killed and 12 others injured by a fourth car-bomb that went off in northern Baghdad, the police source said.
Two more explosives-laden cars exploded in northern and western Baghdad, killing seven and injuring 20.
Another four people were killed and 12 others injured when a booby-trapped car exploded in Al-Sadr City in eastern Baghdad, the police source said.
And one person was killed and nine others injured in yet another car-bomb blast in central Baghdad.
No group has claimed responsibility for Thursday's attacks.
At least 1,000 Iraqis were killed and 1,800 injured in attacks in the month of January alone, according to the Interior Ministry.
Although most such attacks go unclaimed, Iraqi authorities usually point the finger at Al-Qaeda-linked militants amid a recent upsurge of violence across Iraq.
