CATANIA, ITALY - 05 JULY : A view of Etna volcano during strong ash and lava spewing in Catania, Italy on 05 July 2023. Italy’s Mount Etna, one of Europe’s most active volcanoes, is erupting powerfully with lava and ash. According to estimates from the regional office of Italy's National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) in Catania, the ash emitted from Etna reached approximately 4.5 kilometers (2.7 miles) in height and moved in a southeast direction. Activity has been particularly observed in the Voragine crater, which started to erupt strongly with lava and ash. Lava flow was also observed from the Voragine crater towards another crater.
