HATAY, Turkiye

The UN on Wednesday sent a total of 43 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid to the northwestern Idlib city of war-weary Syria.

The trucks crossed into the region via the Cilvegozu Border Gate of Turkiye’s southern Hatay province.

The humanitarian aid materials will be distributed among needy Syrians in central Idlib and rural areas.

Syria has been locked in a vicious civil war since early 2011, when the regime cracked down on pro-democracy protests.

Since then, hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 10 million others displaced, according to UN estimates.
