UAE president accepts Trump’s invitation to join Gaza ‘peace board’
Gaza peace board created as part of 2nd phase of Gaza ceasefire deal
ISTANBUL
United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has accepted an invitation from US President Donald Trump to join the Gaza “Board of Peace,” the country’s top diplomat said Tuesday.
Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed said the decision “reflects the importance of fully implementing President Donald J. Trump’s 20-point peace plan for Gaza, which is critical for the realization of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.”
He reaffirmed the UAE’s confidence “in President Trump’s leadership and commitment to global peace, exemplified by the historic Abraham Accords.”
The chief diplomat expressed the UAE’s “readiness to contribute actively to the mission of the Board of Peace, supporting greater cooperation, stability, and prosperity for all.”
Late on Friday, the White House announced the formation of the Board of Peace alongside the approval of the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, one of four bodies designated to manage the transitional phase in the enclave.
The creation of the board coincided with the launch of the second phase of the ceasefire agreement, which halted Israel’s war on Gaza, which has killed more than 71,000 people and injured over 171,000 others since October 2023.
The initiative is part of a 20-point plan proposed by Trump and adopted by the UN Security Council under Resolution 2803 in November 2025.
