Turkish NGO provides aid to 10,000 Syrian orphans

A Turkish humanitarian relief agency has provided financial aid to 10,000 Syrian orphans in various locations across the war-torn country.

In a statement, Regaip Erdogan of the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) said the aid was distributed on a monthly basis among orphaned children in Syria’s Idlib, Aleppo, Hama and Lattakia in order to help meet their basic needs.

"The orphans were most severely affected by the destruction of the war,” Erdogan said, thanking the donors, who made these efforts possible.

The Istanbul-based charity group has been helping war victims since the beginning of the Syrian civil war.

The organization is providing humanitarian aid, including food aid, medical support, health care, education as well as refugee camps inside Syria and Turkey to civilians affected by the conflict.

Syria has only just begun to emerge from a devastating civil war that began in 2011 when the Bashar al-Assad regime cracked down on demonstrators with unexpected ferocity.
