Sirens sounded in several areas across southern and central Israel on Sunday after two missile barrages from Iran.

In separate statements, the army said alarms were activated in Beersheba, and the illegal settlements of Ofakim and Netivot in southern Israel. Sirens also blared out in Tel Aviv, Bnei Brak, Bat Yam, Ra’anana, Givatayim, Herzliya, and nearby areas in central Israel.

The army said two Iranian missiles were intercepted by air defenses, without giving details about other projectiles.

The new barrages came hours after more than 100 people were injured in an Iranian missile attack in Arad and Dimona in southern Israel on Saturday.

Regional escalation has continued to flare since the US and Israel launched a joint offensive on Iran on Feb. 28, killing so far over 1,300 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.

Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, along with Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting “US military assets,” causing casualties and damage to infrastructure while disrupting global markets and aviation.
