Sirens sound across Israel following new Iranian missile attack
Israeli army says air defenses intercept missiles, civilians urged to remain in shelters
ISTANBUL
Sirens sounded across Israel after Iran launched a new missile attack, Israeli authorities said Sunday.
The army said air defense systems were intercepting the missiles.
It also sent early warning alerts to mobile phones in threatened areas, urging residents to remain in shelters until further notice.
Regional escalations have continued to rage since Israel and the US launched an offensive against Iran on Feb. 28, killing more than 1,300 people to date, including then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries hosting US military assets, causing casualties and damage to infrastructure, while disrupting global markets and aviation.
